• Architect: Heatherwick Studio
  • Location: Paddington Basin, London

As part of the master plan for the development of the Paddington Basin, three original bridges by three separate teams were commissioned to create points of interest at street level.

In collaboration with The Heatherwick Studio, Packman Lucas conceived the idea of a bridge that carried pedestrians when in place and turned into a sculpture when retracted. Uniquely, this bridge rolls into a perfect hexagon when not in use, and has been featured in countless periodicals and videos.

The project won the 2005 Structural Steel Design Award.
